Admissions

When we consider children for Cornfield School, we look at whether that child is ready and willing to learn again, to value education, to want qualifications and to show respect for quite tight rules and boundaries. For a day placement to work, it is crucial that we are able to have daily access to and support from parent/ carers.

Residential placements - contact Viv Spence by telephone on 01737 824297 or
email: admin@cornerways.org

Day placements - contact Jayne Telfer at the school on telephone 01737 773139 (term time only)
or email: jaynetelfer@cornerways.org

It is suggested that day placements are initially on a trial basis for one term.

Settling in

Even if your child has been out of school for quite some time, any nerves about meeting new people or having missed lots of schooling quickly disappear. The child will see that our school is a safe and friendly place to be, with everyone in class and getting along with their learning. A typical class size is 4 students with a teacher and teaching assistant.

In addition the school has its own pastoral care team, and a special educational needs officer. We also give individual help to catch up with reading and spelling. In such a small community, any tiny signs
of bullying or potential unkindness will be noticed and dealt with straight away.
