The school hopes to apply for specialist Arts status for 2007/8

Homework
A copy of our homework policy is available on request. Two or three subjects are set nightly.

School Code of Conduct
In order to have a calm and nurturing school community we do have a few basic rules! Students are treated with respect and as far as possible like young adults. Staff expect good manners and politeness in return. Swearing, not doing as asked or disrupting the learning of other students would not be tolerated. We could not accept a student with a recent violent background, as our philosophy is
therapeutic and as such we do not restrain children.

There is a school uniform. The school has been a non-smoking site since April 2006. The kind of students we have like to have firm rules andboundaries. There are lots of opportunities for weekly certificates praising good work and attendance. Our end of term prize giving ceremonies are family occasions with school, house, parents, friends and social workers all enjoying the achievements
and progress that your child will make.

The School Day
Residential students are brought to school by their Houses for 9.20 am, and are collected at 3.20 pm. Local authorities and parents will arrange transport for day pupils. Everyone eats a packed lunch together. Fizzy drinks are not permitted. Year 10 and 11 students are allowed to go off-site at lunchtime. On some school days there are art and fun club activities to 4.30 pm. Children like to attend to make different friendships and enjoy activities with non-school staff.
