Inclusion
Cornfield School is an inclusive school. A school where:
1. The teaching, learning, achievement, attitudes and well-being of every
young person matters;
2. This is demonstrated through our policies, outlook and practices - and
includes all of our pupils - together with a desire to develop their full
potential.
3. Cornfield School is a learning and caring community.
4. You will see and feel the quality of all relationships in our community …
students, staff, parents, carers, houses, neighbours.
5. Everyone can access a broad and balanced curriculum and genuine fulltime
education.
We have high expectations and suitable challenge for all our young people.
There are no barriers to achieving and thriving - education is a tool for
improving life chances for the young people and adults at Cornfield School.
We have a strong commitment to conflict resolution and reparation. As such
permanent exclusions were nil for 2005/6, although some residential students
have moved placements, eg to secure units. Fixed term exclusions are usually
for one day and are comparatively low. Work is always set to do at home.
A permanent exclusion would occur in a serious case of violence or damage.
Complaints
Our complaints procedure can be viewed upon request. No complaints were
received 2004/05/06.
Please come to visit by appointment!
As Headteacher I am always delighted to show parents/carers, educational
psychologists, social workers, and placement officers around our small school.
We have a saying, "You don't have to act out to get noticed here!" and another
one: "It's not where you've come from that matters, but where you're going to
that counts…!"
Please do come to see what learning and achievements your child can make.
